Cobras Cruise Past Wolves 6-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Six different Cobras registered goals as the Coker men's soccer team cruised past the Newberry Wolves 6-1 on Wednesday (Oct. 23) night in South Atlantic Conference action.

The match started slow with neither team gaining control. It wasn't until the 33rd minute of play that Coker scored its first goal of the match. Chris Martin buried his first collegiate goal into the back of the net with an assist from Matt Taylor to give the Cobras a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

After the intermission the Cobras turned up the intensity. Daniel Jackson got things started a minute into the second half as he scored his team leading ninth goal with some help from Daniel Arensdorf. Two minutes later Newberry cut the lead in half with a goal from Christian Ortiz.

The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Cobras until a goal from Jordan Snell made it 3-1 with an assist from Brendan McCarron in the 65th minute. Eight minutes later Tony Quiroz scored his first goal of the season with an assist from Snell for a 4-1 Coker lead.

The final two goals of the match came in the last 10 minutes of action. Giouliano Andrade assisted on both; the first by Caleb Fenner and the second by Noah Gulley, giving Coker the 6-1 win.

The Cobras return to action on Sunday (Oct. 27) when they travel to Tusculum College for a SAC match starting at 4 p.m.
