Coker Comes Up Short Against Queens, 2-1

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Akeem Prendes scored his second goal in as many games, unfortunately it was not enough, as Coker fell to Queens University of Charlotte 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas men's soccer tournament on Tuesday night.

Coker's season comes to an end with the loss, while Queens advances to play Barton College in the semi-finals on Friday.

A pair of first half goals by the Royals propelled them to victory. The first came in the 13th minute from Jeremy Chambers, with the second coming in the 17th minute from Felipe Netto. Queens held the 2-0 lead into halftime.

Coker turned on the offensive pressure in the second half firing eight shots at the Royal's cage. Prendes' goal came in the 48th minute off a cross from Noah Lascell. The Cobras had several more offensive chances, including six of their 10 corners, but were unable to crack the Royal defense.

The Cobras finish the season with a record of 12-4-1, earning their second consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season title.
