Coker Looking to Stay Hot Against Queens

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's soccer team is looking to extended its five match winning streak when the Cobras take the field on Saturday (Oct. 20) against the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte. The match will be video streamed live online, and can be viewed at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker enters the Conference Carolinas match ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region and is No. 2 in the conference standings with an overall record of 10-3 and a conference record of 6-1. Leading the Cobras is senior Niko Tirkkonen with nine goals and two assists. Following close behind is classmate Carlos Recinos with four goals and six assists. Together they have provided the catalyst for Coker's offensive attack.

Goalkeeper James Sweeney continues to anchor the defense. The senior picked up his third consecutive shutout on Wednesday against North Greenville, and he is ranked nationally in goals against average (0.76) and save percentage (.824).

Queens enters the match at 6-8 overall and 4-4 in league play. The Royals lost their last two matches to North Greenville (1-0) and Limestone (6-0).

Kick-off for the Coker versus Queens match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Coker Soccer Field.
