Coker Golf Gears Up for SAC Championship

SIEVERVILLE, TENN. – The Coker College men's and women's golf teams begin play of the South Atlantic Conference tournament on Sunday (April 13) in Sieverville, Tennessee.

The men's team comes into the tournament as the third best team in the conference when it comes to scoring average with a team average of 299.1. They are led by the duo of Josh Clay and Christopher Fuga who come in with scoring averages of 74 and 74.7. Both were named to All-Conference teams this past week. Will Bundy comes in next with a 76.3 scoring average. Blake Baysden and Zane Price round out the starting five with scoring averages of 76.9 and 77.2 respectively.

The women's team heads into the tournament as the sixth best team with a 333.7 team scoring average. They are led by All-Conference selection Taylor Demby who brings in a team best 80.4 scoring average. Mallory Thompkins is not far behind sporting an 82.8 scoring average. Tensley Clowser and Krista Thorpe have averages of 85.2 and 86.6 on the season. Amber Harman rounds out the traveling five with a scoring average of 88.5.

The 54-hole tournament is a 3-day event with 18 holes being played each day. Round one will begin Sunday morning (April 13).
