Cobras Eyeing Season Sweep of Tornados

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will take on the visiting Brevard College Tornados on Saturday (Jan. 28) at 4 p.m. in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Live stats and video can be found at www.cokercobras.com 

Since joining the SAC, Coker holds a 4-3 mark over the Tornados, including a 78-67 win at Brevard on Dec. 10.

JaQuez Motley leads the way for the Navy and Gold on the offensive end, pouring in 13.4 points per game, including 10 or more points in eight of his last 10 games. Jake Barrett enters Saturday's showdown averaging 11.1 points per game, while Nathan Lemke and Roman Hall are both averaging 9.4 points per contest. In the last meeting between the two sides, Lemke posted 21 points and 10 rebounds on 10-11 shooting. On the season, Lemke is also shooting 53.5 percent from the field, ranking ninth in the SAC.

As a team, the Cobras sit atop the SAC in the offensive rebounding category, pulling down 14.1 per contest. Coker also ranks third in steals per game, swiping 9.5 per game.

Brevard travels to Hartsville with 2-17 mark and a 0-13 record in South Atlantic Conference play. Stevie Williams leads the way for the Tornados, averaging 18.1 points per game.

Saturday's game is Coker's annual Make-A-Wish game and fans are encouraged to take part in a "Blue Out" in the DeLoach Center. Opening tip is set for a 4 p.m.
