HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team earned a 72-62 South Atlantic Conference win on homecoming Saturday (Feb. 6) over the visiting Anderson University Trojans.

The Cobras came out of the gates on fire, with a Chase Brewington made three-pointer giving them a 20-6 lead with 10:38 left to go in the opening half. Anderson would cut the deficit to seven multiple times down the stretch, however, a 12-2 run to close the half gave Coker a 16-point (40-24) advantage at the half.

The second half would be much more competitive, with the two teams exchanging buckets for much of the latter 20 minutes. Anderson knocked on the door multiple times, however, they could never get closer than seven points ensuring the 72-62 near wire-to-wire victory for the Navy and Gold.

JaQuez Motley provided a spark off the bench, scoring a team-high 20 points on 8-9 shooting. Donte Samuels finished with a double double, recording 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Aubrey Daniel and Jake Barrett each scored 12 points as well, with Daniel pulling down four rebounds and dishing out three assists, while Barrett handed out five assists and notched five steals as well.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 10) when they take on the visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears in a South Atlantic Conference matchup. Opening tip is set for 8 p.m.
