Coker Picks Up 75-59 SAC Win Over Wingate

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Freshman Donte Samuels scored a career high 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the Cobra men's basketball team's 75-59 win over the Wingate Bulldogs on Wednesday (Feb. 19) night. The win moves the Cobras to 13-10 overall and 10-9 in the South Atlantic Conference.

In addition to Samuels 16 points off the bench, senior Julian Nelson scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed five rebounds. Junior Larry Felder added in 12 points with eight rebounds, while Bryce Arnott and Trey Marshall dropped seven points each.

The Cobras wasted no time taking control of the game as they took an early 23-9 lead in the first 10 minutes of action. The Bulldogs battled their way back and cut the Cobra lead to just four, 38-34, at halftime.

The first five minutes of the second half were very close, but thanks to an 18-4 run over a four-minute span, the Cobras built a 64-49 lead. Coker held onto the lead down the stretch and took home the 75-59 win.

Coker will be back on the court for its final home game of the season on Saturday (Feb. 22) at 4 p.m. against Anderson. It will be senior day, as well as Make-A-Wish day at the game. The Cobras will honor their senior student-athletes, as well as a special Make-A-Wish guest before the game's opening tip-off.
