Cobra Men Prepared for Conference Tournament to Begin

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – March Madness will begin for the Coker men's basketball team on Monday (March 4) when the Cobras take the floor for the Quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Tournament. The Cobras will hit the road for their first game of the tournament, traveling to Barton College. Live coverage of the game will be available online at www.cokercobras.com.

Coker is coming off an 86-81 win over Belmont Abbey in its final regular season game of the season. Four players scored in double figures against the Crusaders. Julian Nelson had a team-high 26 points, Larry Felder scored 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds, Andrew Morris had 15 points and Sharod Williams scored 11 points with eight rebounds.

The Cobras are the #8 seed in the tournament and they will face the #1 seed Bulldogs. During the regular season Coker split their series with Barton. The Cobras defeated the Bulldogs 94-90 in a thrilling triple overtime game back on Feb. 6.  In that game, Coker used a complete team effort as six different players scored in double figures. Eren Moses and Bryce Arnott were the scoring leaders with 17 points each.

Nelson has been the team's leading scorer all season; he is averaging 16.9 points per game. Morris is next in line with 11.7 points per game and Williams follows with 8.8 points and a team leading 7.4 rebounds per game.

Barton, the Conference Carolinas regular season champion, closed out its regular season play with 78-70 win over Mount Olive on March 1. Gerald Boston is the leading scorer for the Bulldogs, averaging just over 21 points per game.

Tip-off for Monday's game is schedule for 7 p.m. at Barton's Wilson Gymnasium.
