Coker's Second Half Comeback Falls Short in 64-62 Loss to Pfieffer

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker's second half comeback against Pfeiffer on Wednesday (Feb. 20) fell short, as the Falcons defeated the Cobras 64-62 on a last second shot. The loss drops the Cobras to 12-11 on the season and 9-8 in Conference Carolinas play.

The game began with neither team gaining a major advantage on the scoreboard, until Pfeiffer went on a 16-7 run, taking a 27-17 lead with 1:22 left in the first half. The Cobras posted five unanswered points in the final minute of the half, cutting the deficit to 27-22 as they headed to the locker room.

Coker carried their momentum into the second half and quickly tied the game at 27 with 18:21 remaining, thanks to an Andrew Morris 3-pointer and a pair of free throws from Eren Moses. Both teams exchanged baskets over the next 15 minutes of the half, as neither team gained more than a five-point advantage. Morris knocked down a three-ball with 2:38 remaining to give the Cobras a 59-58 lead. A pair of baskets gave the Falcons a 62-59 lead with just over a minute left in regulation. After a few failed trips down the court by each team, Morris came through once again for the Cobras, as he drained another 3-pointer with 11 seconds on the clock, tying the game at 62. Unfortunately, Pfeiffer proceeded to march down the court and nail the game-winning jumper.

Morris led the Cobras with 19 points, 15 of which came from beyond the arc. Julian Nelson added 12 points, Sharod Williams scored 10 points with five rebounds and Moses also scored 10.

The Cobras will return to the hardwood on Saturday (Feb. 23) when they hit the road, traveling to King University for a 4 p.m. game.
