Coker Looking to Sweep Pfeiffer

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's basketball team will be looking to complete the season sweep of Pfeiffer University when they host the Falcons in a Conference Carolinas game on Wednesday night. Live video coverage of the game will be available online at www.cokercobras.com.

In their first meeting back on Jan. 24, the Cobras defeated the Falcons 64-51. Julian Nelson was Coker's leading scorer with 17 points and Andrew Morris scored 13 points. Since that game, the men have posted a record of 5-2 and are undefeated at home. So far this season, the Cobras are 7-2 when playing in the friendly confines of Coker's Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.

Nelson continues to lead the Cobras offensively with his 17.2 points per game, while Morris has scored 24 points in the last two games, pushing his average to 11.7 points per game. Sharod Williams has also come on strong in the last few games. The senior scored 15 points against Barton and 18 against North Greenville, but his real strength has been his presence on the boards.  He has pulled down 12 rebounds in each of the last three games.

Currently, the Cobras are tied for fifth place in the league standings at 9-7. They are just two games shy of fourth place, with four games remaining in the regular season. The top four teams will serve as hosts for the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Tournament, which begins on March 4.

Wednesday's game is Faculty-Staff Appreciation Night.  Members of the Coker College faculty and staff will receive a free t-shirt at the game, along with drinks and popcorn.  Games and prizes will also be apart of the night's festivities.

The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off, following the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
