Coker Hosts No. 22 Indianapolis in Homecoming Weekend Series

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker baseball will host the 22nd-ranked University of Indianapolis for a three-game set homecoming weekend (Feb. 10-12). Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras split a series with Chowan last weekend (Feb. 4-5), winning both games on Saturday (5-4, 11-1) and dropping both ends of Sunday's doubleheader (7-4, 8-5).

Brooks Estrada has led the Cobras offensively so far this season, batting .353 through five games with one triple and four RBI.

So far on the mound, Darius Coldiron is 2-0, tossing six innings with one start and one relief appearance. The senior has has issued two free passes, struck out six and owns a 4.50 earned run average.

The Greyhounds will open their 2017 season in Hartsville, coming into the season ranked No. 22 in the nation. UIndy is coming off a 38-21 season in which they won the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament championship.

First pitch for Friday is set for 1:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field. Saturday is a noon start, with the dedication of the baseball stadium at 11:15. The stadium will be named in honor of legendary head coach Dave Schmotzer. The series finale on Sunday is slated for a 12:00 p.m. start. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
