Baldwin Propels Cobras Past Lions in Series Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Dallas Baldwin fired his second complete game in as many weeks to help Coker baseball take the series opener 6-3 over Mars Hill on Friday (April 8) at Tom J. New Field.

Baldwin (4-3) held the Lions hitless through four innings and was able to work his way out of some jams and ultimately go the distance. The right-hander allowed three runs, two earned on 10 hits while issuing two free passes and punching out two.

Coker's starter got plenty of run support as a four-run third inning put the Cobras out in front 6-0. After a two-out Mars Hill error plated a run and left the bases loaded, Miguel Frias knocked a double to right center to clear the bases and give the Cobra pitcher some cushion.

Frias finished the day 2-4 with two RBI's, while Colton Henthorne, Will Winslow and Thomas Lopez each collected hits.

The Cobras will wrap up the series tomorrow (April 9)with a doubleheader back at Tom J. New Field. First pitch for game one is set for 12:00 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
