Lumberton, N.C. – The Coker College Cross Country Teams, under the leadership of new head coach Keith Solverson, put up a pair of fifth place finishes at the UNC- Pembroke Invitational on Friday evening. Both the men’s and women’s teams placed fifth, with the women placing better than Shaw University, and the men placing better than Mount Olive College and Shaw.

In the women’s race, Kendyl Seawright (Manalapan, NJ) continued here fast paced ways, as she placed second overall with a time of 19:32 in the 4828 meter event, just 22 seconds behind Alyson Trovato of St. Andrews. Seawright was followed by Shannon Townley (Anniston, AL) with a time of 21:54, while Caitlyn Driscoll (Grand Island, NY) came in at 22:45. Anglea Williams (Johnston, SC) was next with a time of 23:37, followed by Alex Ochoa (Pamplico, SC) with a time of 23:49. Rounding out the Lady Cobra runners was Amy Jones (Hurricane, WV) finishing at 24:07.

In the men’s race it was a pair of young runners leading the Cobras, as freshman Justin Gragg (Lenoir, NC) finished 10th overall with time of 22:45 and sophomore Michael Murphy (Peekskill, MY) finished 11th with a time of 22:54. Adam Green (Easley, SC) was next with time of 25:12, followed by Austin McJunkin (Walhalla, SC) with a time of 27:41 and Chase Horton (Bethune, SC) rounded out the runners for Coker with time of 28:32.

Coker returns to the course on Saturday, September 13, as the Cobras travel to Wingate, N.C. for the Pre-Region Meet.
