Wingate, NC- The Coker College Women’s Cross Country Team did not have the NCAA Regional Race that they expected, but overall it was a productive race for this young group, as they placed 15th out of 19 teams. The Cobras, who have no seniors, will be looking for an even better 2007, as they complete the 2006 season.

Leading the Lady Cobras runners in this 6K event was Shannon Townley coming in with a time of 26:17 in 49th place. Monica Taylor was next with a time of 27:16, followed by Noelle Sharbono at 27:35. Heidi Rienstra and Dana Daves were next with times of 28:07 and 28:16 respectively. Rounding out the Cobra runners were Amy Jones and Ashley Cupp with times of 30:07 and 30:08 respectively.

The Cobras finished the 2006 season with some success for this young squad. Their best finish of the season came in their very first meet, as they placed second at the Gamecock Invitational; they also placed fifth at the Limestone Invitational and seventh at the CVAC Championship. Coach Fletcher is excited about the future of this team and looks forward next season.
