ANDERSON, SC –Junior David Green/Easley, SC won the CVAC Championship Friday morning at Anderson College, where the Coker cross country teams were competing at the conference meet.  The men finished third overall behind Lees-McRae and St. Andrews, and the women placed ninth. 

Green defeated LMC’s Brian Knapp by a step to finish in 26:57.  His time established a new record on the difficult course, and earned him CVAC Runner of the Year honors, as well. 

Sophomore Nathan Hansen/Montgomery, AL finished in 28:25 for 10th place, and was followed by classmate Tyler Carroll/Birmingham, AL in 15th with a time of 28:49.  Hansen’s performance earned him Second Team All-CVAC honors and Carroll made the Honorable Mention team.  

Junior Jermain Cooper/Irmo, SC crossed in 30:19 for 31st, and Britt Means/Irmo, SC placed 34th at 30:29.  Junior Alex Kornfeld/Greenville, SC took 39th with a time of 30:57 and Blake Means/Irmo, SC completed the course in 31:15, good for 42nd overall.  Senior John Westbrooks/Pickens, SC completed the scoring for the Cobras with a time of 33:13, placing him 58th.

The women were led by freshman Noelle Sharbono/Pembroke Pines, FL, whose time of 22:25 placed her 27th in the race.  Senior Katheryn Rayman/Columbia, SC finished in 34th with a time of 23:08, and freshman Elizabeth Cox/North Myrtle Beach, SC claimed 52nd in 27:21.  Senior Suzie Fielders/Winston-Salem, NC finished in 28:23 for a 56th place finish and classmate Crystal Holliday/Sumter, SC completed the event in 30:14 for 59th overall.

The NCAA Division II Regional meet will be held next Saturday, November 6, at Wingate University.
