Coker Ready to Face North Greenville in Conference Carolinas Tournament

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – For the first time in five years the Coker College women's volleyball team will be making an appearance in the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Tournament. The Cobras will take on the No. 2 seed from the West Division North Greenville University in a quarterfinal match on Saturday (Nov. 10); the Cobras are the No. 3 seed from the East Division.

"I'm very excited to have the program back in the tournament after a five year hiatus," said head coach Todd Caughlin. "This group of student-athletes set a goal at the beginning of the season to be one of the top four teams in the East Division, and after a tough season of ups and downs - they accomplished the that goal."

The Cobras defeated Converse College 3-2 on Nov. 3, solidifying their spot in the tournament.

Led by hitter Taylor Willis, setter Samantha Celek and libero Brittany Bass, the Cobras are poised to make a run for the conference tournament championship. Willis leads the team in kills with 303, while Celek has handed out 859 assists and Bass has 445 digs and a team leading 30 aces.

Coker and North Greenville have met just one time this season, back on Sept. 29. The Crusaders defeated the Cobras 3-1.

The last time Coker advanced to the league tournament was in 2007. The Cobras were the No. 4 seed in the tournament. They defeated Pfeiffer in the quarterfinals, but lost to Limestone in the semifinal match.

The Cobras and the Crusaders will take the floor at 4:30 p.m. at North Greenville. The match will be streamed live online at www.cokercobras.com.
