Cobras Take Down Tornado 3-2

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobras used a team effort to take down the Tornado of King College 3-2 in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Friday night. With the win Coker moves to 4-2 in league play.

Coker opened the match with a dominating 25-11 win in the first set. King bounced back with a 25-17 win in set two to even the match at one aside. The Cobras regained the lead with a come from behind win in set three 25-22. The Tornado narrowly won set four 25-23, but Coker used a 7-3 run to open the fifth set and eventually win 15-9.

Taylor Willis and Catie Truzzolino knocked down 16 and 15 kills respectively, while Brittany Bass and Mindy Morris put on a defensive clinic with 24 and 13 digs each. Samantha Celek dished out 44 assists and Hanna Vadakin was a force to be reckoned at the net with seven total blocks.

Coker will be back on the court on Saturday (Sept. 29) at home against the Crusaders of North Greenville University. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. at Coker's Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.

Bass had a match high 24 digs.
