Caughlin Named to NCAA Women’s Volleyball Committee
Coker College volleyball coach Todd Caughlin is now serving on the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College volleyball coach Todd Caughlin has recently been appointed a member of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee. He will represent the Southeast Region, and his term begins immediately. The addition of Caughlin to the committee brings the total to seven, the number of Coker representatives serving on NCAA committees.
"Being appointed to represent this region is an honor," said Caughlin. "I will do my best to ensure that the game and level of play in this region stays competitive at the national level. This is a great opportunity, and I can't wait to hit the ground running."
The volleyball committee is comprised of eight members who represent each geographical region in Division II. The purpose of the committee is to develop policies and procedures governing the administration and conduct of the Division II women's volleyball championships. As a committee member, Caughlin is expected to attend the championships and the annual meeting each year.
Additional duties include participating in teleconferences, serving as the NCAA site representative for regional competition, ranking teams and providing input on selection of host institutions for regional and national competition.
"The participation of Coker College administrators on NCAA committees underscores the drive we have to make a difference, both locally and nationally," said director of athletics Lynn Griffin. "Todd demonstrates the commitment and competitive spirit that will help the sport of volleyball in numerous ways. He is an excellent choice for this committee."
Caughlin replaces former Flagler coach Taylor Mott on the committee. His term runs until Sept. 1, 2013. Caughlin joins Griffin (Nominations), Robert Wyatt (President's Council), Katie Flaherty (Legislative Relief), Christian Stryker (Baseball), Kaye Crook (Membership) and Katie McElveen (Student-Athlete Advisory) as the other Coker representatives on NCAA committees.
