Bulldogs Come from Behind to Defeat Coker 3-2

WILSON, N.C. – Coker's Taylor Willis (Zephyrhills, Fla.) had a match high 22 kills, while Brittany Bass (Bethune, S.C.) had a match high 37 digs, but it was not enough as the Cobras dropped a five set match against Barton College, 3-2.

The loss drops the Coker to 8-18 overall and 5-10 in Conference Carolinas play, with Barton improving to 10-14 overall and 6-10 in conference play with the win.

Coker began the night by picking up wins in the first and second sets with scores of 25-21 and 26-24, but the Bulldogs were not to be counted out as they stormed back with three straight wins; 25-20, 25- 21 and 26-24.

Katie McElveen (Hartsville, S.C.) had a double-double with 11 kills and 34 digs, while Samantha Celek (Charleston, S.C.) dished out 54 assists. Mindy Morris (Beaufort, S.C.) added 29 digs to the Cobra efforts and April Griggs (Bishopville, S.C.) and Hannah Vadakin (Centennial, Colo.) each added nine kills.

The Cobras will return home for their final regular season matches of the season this weekend. The first on Friday at 4 p.m. against Pfeiffer and the second on Saturday at 2 p.m. versus  Queens University of Charlotte.
