Hartsville, SC- In the Coker Volleyball Team’s 2nd Annual “Pretty in Pink” match, the Cobras sported pink jerseys on their way to a 3-1 victory over Queens University. The victory improves the Cobras to 11-12 overall, and 8-4 in Conference Carolinas play, while the Royals fall to 2-22 overall, and 1-12 in the conference.

Coker won game one of the match by a score of 30-23, but Queens turned the tables in game two winning 30-23. With the match all square at one, Coker defeated Queens in the next two games by scores of 30-20 and 30-24 to take home the victory.

Leading the Cobras in kills was Megan Haupt (Summerville, SC) with 14, while Margaret Madison (Savannah, GA) had 13 kills. Natalie Schembra (Hilton Head, SC) and Kristin Teets (Columbia, SC) each had 10 kills with Schembra adding 11 digs. Courtney Butrym (Columbia, SC) had 37 assists, 10 digs and three aces, while Kelsey Carlson (Osweego, IL) had 21 digs.

For Queens, Katie Austin (Austin, TX) had 12 kills and six digs, while Veronice Arenander (Cincinnati, OH) had 10 kills and nine digs. Sarah Burt (Pensacola, FL) had 27 assists and Ebony Turner (Charlotte, NC) had 19 digs.

Coker returns to the court on Wednesday, October 10, as they travel to Florence, SC, to face cross town rival Francis Marion at 7:00 p.m.
