Hartsville, SC- In what proved to be a one of the hardest matches of the Coker Volleyball season, the Cobras were able to come out with a hard fought win over Mount Olive in CVAC volleyball Tuesday night. Mount Olive won games one and four with scores of 31-29 and 32-30, while Coker was able to win games two, three and five with scores of 30-21, 30-22 and 15-12. The victory moves Coker to 13-10 overall, and 11-4 in the CVAC, while the Trojans are now 7-16 overall, and 6-9 in the CVAC.

 

Leading the Cobra victory was Margaret Madison with 19 kills, 14 digs and two aces, while Lauren Larsen added 19 kills of her own and three blocks. Allie Bragg netted 10 kills, while Tara Nelson gave the Cobras 55 assists, 10 digs and three blocks. Natalie Schembra finished the match with eight kills and 23 digs, followed by Kelsey Carlson with 13 digs.

 

For the Trojans, Sam Mitchell had 14 kills and 15 digs, while Anna Luft netted 11 kills. Joanie Werling had 39 assists and 12 digs, and Nikki Murphy had 13 digs and three aces. Mallory Peavler had 12 digs on the night with four aces.

 

The Cobras next match is at home at 7:30 p.m. versus St. Andrews, while Mount Olive travels to Barton College.
