Hartsville, SC- It was a victorious night for not only the Coker College Volleyball team, but for the Darlington County Relay for Life as well. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Lady Cobras held the first ever “Pretty in Pink” Coker volleyball match where they wore special pink jerseys. The Lady Cobras auctioned off a pink jersey signed by the team for an amazing $500. In total almost $1000 was raised for the Darlington County Relay for Life.

Coker swept the Koalas of Columbia College 3-0 with scores of 30-22, 30-19 and 30-16.

Leading the Cobras attack was Megan Haupt with 13 kills and nine digs, while Margaret Madison had 12 kills and four digs. Allie Bragg nine kills and Natalie Schembra had 12 digs, while Kelsey Carlson had 11 digs for the Cobras. Tara Nelson finished with 35 assists and eight digs, with two aces.

Coach Chuck Mullen said, “This match was special in many ways. We played well as a team and we executed our game plan.” He also commented on the fundraiser for Relay for Life, “We played for a very important cause tonight. I was very impressed with the turnout and the support that the Coker and Hartsville communities gave us tonight.”

The Cobras next match is on Friday, October 13, at Pfeiffer at 7:00 p.m., followed by a home match on Saturday versus Lees-McRae at 2:00 p.m.
