LAURINBURG, NC—Coker College continued its hot play with its fourth straight Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference volleyball victory on Tuesday, defeating host St. Andrews 3-1 (30-26, 30-28, 28-30, 30-21) on Harris Court.
The Lady Cobras improved to 8-10 overall and 7-2 in the CVAC while the Knights dropped to 1-12 and 1-7.
On game point, Coker held a solid eight-point lead in the first set but the Knights rallied with five points to make it interesting. However, the Cobras managed to get the final point to take the early lead with a 30-26 win.
The Knights did not give up and played its best game in the third, taking the quick 7-2 lead and holding on for the 30-28 win to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Coker remained poised after not only losing the third game but also losing Lauren Larsen for the rest of the contest to an ankle injury. The Cobras slowly pulled away throughout the fourth to take the 30-21 win to end the match.
