Cobras Win Three Events at UNCP Braves Classic

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Coker College women's track and field team kicked off its outdoor season on Friday (Mar. 3) at the UNC Pembroke Braves Classic. The Cobras picked up 22 top-10 finishes in total, including wins at the 1500-meter dash, 4 x 400-meter relay and the long jump.

Darroneshia Lott dominated the 1500-meter run, running a time of 4:45.74, winning by nearly 14 seconds. Lott's time also shattered the previous Coker 1500-meter outdoor record by nearly 25 seconds.

In the 4 x 400-meter relay, Coker's Angel Gale, Briana Nixon, Jalecia Williamson and Lott teamed up to take home the top prize, running a time of 4:04.82.

In the long jump, Da'Sha Jobes's leap of 5.31 meters landed her in the top spot, sealing Coker's third win of the day.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday and Saturday for the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.
