Coker Picked Seventh in SAC Women's Track & Field Preseason Poll

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's track & field team has been picked No. 7 in the South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches' poll, the league announced today.

Under the direction of head coach Benny Morgan and in its first season of competition, the Cobras are slated to finish seventh out of nine teams. Wingate University earned the top spot in the poll.

Leading the way for the Cobras in the track events have been Noella Leake, Shauntel Smullen and Da'Sha Jobes. Leake picked up a first place finish in the 100-meter dash at the Palmetto Classic, while Smullen has five top 10 finishes and Jobes has placed in the top 10 five times.

In the field events, Jobes and Talicia Murphy have been the top performers. Jobes has six top 20 finishes in the long jump, including a second place finish at the Palmetto Classic, while Murphy has six top 10 finishes, including a second place finish in the long jump at the Shamrock Invitational.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 27) at the Weems Baskin Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
