How It Happened
Dominance on the lower courts was the tune of the day, as the Cobras took the doubles point in dominant fashion to secure a 1-0 lead over the Saints. Myers and Sierra were quickly off the courts with a 6-0 victory at third doubles, while Bellegy and Banning secured a 6-4 win on court one just before their counterparts on court two.
In singles, courts five and six were off in swift fashion. Between Macias and Myers, only one game was dropped total, and they both rolled to victories to put the Cobras up 3-0. From there, it took a little longer to provide the clinching win. Courts two and three were headed to third sets, with court four looking to be trending in that same direction. After a dominant 6-1 win in the first set, Bellegy found herself down 4-1 in the second. She gathered her strength and tied it all up at 6-6 to head to a deciding tiebreak. In that tiebreak, she was down 2-4 and 5-6, but she never wavered. After a great battle, she walked away with the 9-7 win in the tiebreak to clinch the win for the Cobras!
