Coker Comes from Behind to Defeat Belmont Abbey 5-4

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker Cobras won four of six singles matches in a come from behind 5-4 win against Belmont Abbey on Sunday (Apr. 7) in Conference Carolinas women's tennis action.  With the win the Cobras secured their spot in the Conference Carolinas Tennis Tournament April 19-21 at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

Coker fell behind 2-1 after doubles, with Daniela Chipe and Jessi Campos picking up the 8-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.

Determined to win the match, the Cobras battled back in singles play, as Chipe and Campos earned wins at No. 1 and No. 2, taking a 3-2 lead. Belmont Abbey tied the match at three with a win at No. 3, but Brittany Yando and Faith Baxley closed out the match and earned the overall win with victories at No. 4 and No. 5. 

The Cobras will be back in action on Thursday (Apr. 11) at home against Mount Olive College in their final league match of the season. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. at the Coker tennis courts.
