Coker Comes from Behind to Defeat Converse 5-4

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Coker women's tennis team pulled out a come from behind victory over Converse, 5-4 on Saturday (Mar. 16). With the win the Cobras improve to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in Conference Carolinas action.

The Cobra women fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, picking up an 8-4 win at No. 1. In singles action, Coker fell behind, 4-1, after loses at No. 5 and No. 6. With their backs against the wall, the Cobras fought their way back with four straight wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to take home the conference victory. 

Brittanny Yando started the come back with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4. Anna Musiyenko followed with a three-set win at No. 3 with scores of 7-5, 1-6, 6-2, making the score 4-3 in favor of Converse with two matches left. Jessi Campos tied the match at four with a three-set win at No. 2, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Daniela Chipe earned the final victory of the match at No. 1, another three-set win, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The Cobras will be back on the court on Sunday (Mar. 17) when they travel to Queens University of Charlotte for another conference match at noon.
