Coker Falls Short Against Shaw, 5-4

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker senior Brittanny Yando (Sumter, S.C.) had a perfect day on the courts winning both her doubles and singles matches, but as a team the Cobra women suffered a tough 5-4 loss to Shaw University.

Yando and her doubles partner Faith Baxley (Mullins, S.C.) had a perfect 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, which Yando followed up with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

Cora Berna (Spain) and Kayla Meermans (Pelion, S.C.) picked up an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles and Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) earned a hard fought three set victories at No. 1 singles, winning 5-7, 6-2, 6-0.

The Cobras will be back on the courts on Monday when they take on Conference Carolinas foe Converse College at home at 2:30 p.m.
