Cobra Women Come Up Just Short Versus North Georgia

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's tennis team was dominant in singles play winning four of their six matches, but unfortunately it was not enough to take home the overall victory. North Georgia narrowly defeated the Cobras, 5-4, on Wednesday afternoon.

Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.), Cora Berna (Spain), Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) and Kayla Meermans  (Pelion, S.C.) each captured straight set victories in their singles matches. Blanchard won her match at No. 1 singles 6-3, 7-5, while Berna won at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-3. Medley picked up the 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and Meermans won with ease at No. 5 singles with scores of 6-1, 6-2.

The loss drops the Cobras to an even 1-1 in their young season.

Coker will be back in action on Friday at Winston-Salem State for their third match in four days. Start time for the match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
