HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women’s tennis team suffered their third consecutive loss on Monday afternoon, as they were defeated by the Braves of UNC Pembroke 6-3.

The Cobras opened the match with a pair of wins in doubles play. The first coming at No.1 doubles with Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) and Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) winning 9-7. The second came at No. 3 doubles as Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, S.C.) and Cora Berna (Spain) won 8-5.

Then in singles play it was all about UNC Pembroke as they Braves won five of the six matches. Coker’s lone singles victory came at No. 2 with Berna winning 6-1, 5-7, 10-2.

The Cobras have just one match remaining before they head to the Conference Carolinas Championships this weekend. Coker will travel to Methodist on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. match.
