HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra women’s tennis team was narrowly defeated by Mount Olive College, 5-3 in Conference Carolinas women’s tennis action on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops the Cobra women to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play.

Coker got two of their three wins in singles play at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) earned a hard fought 7-6, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles, while Cora Berna (Spain) had a straight set victory at No. 2 winning 6-0, 6-3.

The third win for the Cobras came at No. 1 doubles as Blanchard and Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) won 8-5.

The Cobras have just two matches remaining before they play in the Conference Carolinas Tournament in Sumter, S.C. starting Friday, April 15. Their next match will be on Monday at home at 3:00 p.m. against UNC Pembroke.
