HARTSVILLE, S.C. –  The Coker women’s tennis team picked up their second Conference Carolinas victory in as many matches on Friday thanks to a 9-0 victory over Belmont Abbey. The win moves the Cobra women to 3-1 on their season and 2-1 in conference play.

Coker opened the match by sweeping through doubles play with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.  They won No.3 doubles by default as Belmont Abbey did not have a sixth player.

The moment that started in doubles immediately carried over to singles play with Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) and Cora Berna (Torrevieja, Spain) picking up straight set victories at No. 1 and No. 2 wining 6-0, 6-0 in both matches. Faith Baxley (Mullins, S.C.), Brittany Yando (Sumter, S.C.) and Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, S.C.)  each picked up wins in their respective matches to give the Cobras the 9-0 win.

Coker will be back on the courts again on Saturday when they travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on Conference Carolinas Preseason No. 1 Queens University at 1:00 p.m.
