HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Cobra women’s tennis team earned their first Conference Carolinas victory of the season on Tuesday with a 6-3 win over Lees-McRae College. Coker earned the win thanks to three straight wins in singles play at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

After picking up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles the Cobras entered singles play up 2-1. Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to make it 3-1, but a pair of Bobcat wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles made it a 3-3 tie with three matches left.

Kendall Sigmon (Hilton, Head, S.C.) got the Cobras a hard fought victory at No. 4 singles, winning 6-4, 4-6, 10-6. Then Faith Baxley (Mullins, S.C.)earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, while Brittany Yando (Sumter, S.C.) secured the Cobra victory with a 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 6 singles.

Coker’s next time on the courts will be Friday at home against Belmont Abbey College. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
