HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women’s tennis team dropped their Conference Carolinas opener on Saturday afternoon to the Flying Fleet of Erskine, 9-0. The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the Conference to start the 2010 season.

Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, S.C.) and Stephanie Harrelson (Bishopville, S.C.) lost 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to give Coker their best shot at a win to start the match.

In the singles matches it was Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) that put on the best showing at No. 1 singles. Blanchard lost 6-4, 6-2, but battled hard through both sets.

The Lady Cobras will return to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 24, when they take on USC-Aiken in a non-conference match at the Coker College Tennis Courts.
