Hartsville, SC- The Lady Cobra tennis team captured the 8th and final playoff spot in the upcoming Conference Carolina’s conference tournament with a 7-2 win over the visiting Royals of Queens University of Charlotte.

The Lady Cobras took command early as they swept the all three doubles matches.  Rachel Lemar (London, England) and Jill Smith(Concord, NC) won easily at the No. 1 spot by a score of 8-1, as did Cassidy Spencer (Wilkesboro, NC) and Lindsay Crighton (Florence, SC) winning 8-2.  The match of the day came at the No. Spot when Ashley Pace (Clinton, SC) and Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, SC) escaped with 9-7 win to secure the 3-0 lead heading into singles. 

In singles play, the Lady Cobras picked up four out of a possible six singles matches.  Spencer led the way dominating her opponent by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Smith picked up her second win of the day winning comfortably 6-1, 7-5 as did Pace winning 6-2, 6-2.  Sigmon finished off the day for the Lady Cobras as she won at the No. 6 spot with a 6-1, 7-5.

The Lady Cobras will now travel to Sumter this weekend to play in the Conference Carolinas conference tournament.  Coker will be the No. 8 seed and is slated to play the No. 1 seed on Friday morning at 9:00A.M.
