Hartsville, SC- In a match that went well into the night on Friday, the lady Cobras lost a tough battle to the lady Trojans of Anderson University by a score of 6-3.  This was the first conference match of the year for both the Cobras and the Trojans.

The action started early as the Trojans were able to outlast the Cobra’s in doubles as they were able to pick up two of the three doubles matches.  The lone victory for the Cobras came at the number two spot where Cassidy Spencer (Wilkesboro, NC) and Lindsay Crighton (Florence, SC) were able to defeat Beal and Salvany 8-6.  In the other two doubles matches the Cobras were unable to come out on top as they fell by scores of 8-6 and 9-8(5).

In singles, the match went all square when the Cobra’s won two out of the three opening singles matches.  At No. 1, Rachel Lemar (London, England) gained a big victory winning by a score of 6-1, 6-0.  Playing at the No. 2 spot Cassidy Spencer (Wilkesboro, NC) picked up a solid win as she won by a score of 6-3, 7-5.  In the last three singles matches, Anderson picked up all three singles victories and sealed the deal for the 6-3 victory.

The Lady Cobras return to action Saturday as they take on their second straight conference opponent in Erskine College at 1pm on the Cobra tennis courts.
