Hartsville, SC- The Cobra lady tennis team didn’t get off to the start they were looking for as they were defeated by rival and 15th ranked team in the nation Francis Marion 9-0 in Florence on Sunday afternoon. The cobras were unable to come away with a single victory but still put in a solid effort.

Francis Marion jumped out to a quick start by sweeping all three doubles matches by scores of 8-1, 8-0, and 8-2. In singles play, the lady cobras were unable to crack the win column as Francis Marion took all six singles matches. The best effort was put in by Coker’s number one player Rachel Lemar (London, England) as she was defeated by the 24th ranked singles player in the country Jarka Vitkova 6-1, 6-3.

The Cobras will hit the practice courts this week to prepare for a huge conference match with the Trojans of Anderson University. With the loss the cobras stand at 0-1 overall and 0-0 in Conference Carolina’s play. The match on Friday against Anderson is slated to start at 3:00Pm at the Coker College tennis courts.
