Greenwood, SC- The Lady Cobras found it a tough match playing away at Lander University Saturday. The cold conditions and quite strong winds didn’t help the Cobras in this non conference match up. The doubles matches went on first with Lindsey Crighton and Cassidy Spencer bringing in a victory for the Cobras. They played well from baseline and only needed one break of serve to secure an 8-6 victory. The match of the day came for the Cobras in doubles when Andrea and Santos and Rachel Lemar turned around a 7-2 deficit to win 9-7. After the doubles the cobras held a promising 2-1 lead.

The singles however seemed too dominated by the Lander bearcats as they won 5 of the 6 singles matches to win the tie 6-3. The best result for the Cobras in singes came from Lindsey Crighton playing number 5 singles. Crighton rallied hard to win the first set 6-3 and then was level at 6 games all in the second and the match went into a tie break. The tie break didn’t go in the favor of Crighton as she lost it 7-5. This sent the match into a deciding ten point tie breaker for the match. Crighton went down early but battled back to win the break 10-8. This is the second singles match in a row that Crighton has won 10-8 in a deciding tie breaker.

This moves the Cobras to 2-3 for the season. The Cobras next match is a conference match at home against St Andrew on Wednesday at 3pm.
