Wingate, NC- Today, February 15, the Lady Cobras traveled to North Carolina to take on Wingate University. The Cobras started well by taking all three of the doubles matches. Andrea Santos and Ashley Pace playing two doubles came out strong and quickly claimed an 8-4 victory. Jill Smith and Rachel Lemar also won at number one doubles and battled hard as the match went to a tie break at 8 games all. Lemar and Smith played well in the tie break by attacking the net and won the tie break 7-3. The number three doubles also went to Coker as with Cassidy Spencer and Lindsey Crighton winning 8-3.

 

The singles matches started straight after doubles and the Cobras had some very quick victories. Rachel Lemar came in first and had a very quick victory winning 6-0 6-0. Jill Smith also played very well and took the initiative from the beginning of the match and won 6-4, 6-2. This sealed the match for the Cobras. Cassidy Spencer also won at number three singles 7-5, 6-4. Lindsey Crighton battled well during her match and won her match 10-8 in the final set tie break. Coker’s final score against Wingate was a convincing 7-2 victory.

 

This win takes the Lady Cobras to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The lady Cobras next play away on Saturday at Lander at 2pm.
