Wilson, NC- The women’s tennis team traveled this past weekend to play away matches against Barton College and Mount Olive College in CVAC conference matches.

The first match was against Barton College in Wilson North Carolina. The lady cobras found it tough going against a strong Barton team and lost 8-1. The number two doubles pair of Spencer and Davis came close to gaining a win for the Cobras in doubles but lost 9-7. The only win for the Cobras came from the number two player Cassidy Spencer. She lost the first set 6-1 won but battled back to win the second 6-4. The final set went to a ten point tie breaker which Spencer won 10-5.

The following day the lady Cobras played Mount Olive College but again found the opposing team very strong and lost 9-0. Schaum and Konopa played well at three doubles but were just edged out 8-5 by the Mount Olive pair of Moats and Shimoda.

The singles matches were very one side with Mount Olive dominating. Ashley Schaum cam closes to giving the Cobras a victory but lost 6-2, 6-3 to Emily Escolag. The women are now 1-3 in conference and play again on the 16th away at Newberry College.
