Women's Soccer Battles to Draw Against Converse

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University women's soccer team battled out another tough double overtime draw Saturday night (Sept. 11) against the Valkyries of Converse University.

The two teams traded shots and chances early on in the contest before freshman Abbie Boling recorded her first collegiate goal in the 27th minute to put the Cobras on the board. Fellow freshman Navia Mosley provided a beautiful cross from the right side of the field that Boling was able to settle at her feet and slide past the Converse goalkeeper.

The Valkyries would find a response in the 34th minute when Rowan Debuel found the back of the net to tie things at one a piece before halftime. The Cobras made a strong push in the second half and both periods of overtime, outshooting the Valkyries nine to five during that span. The Cobras also tallied four corner kicks compared to just one for Converse.

Senior Gabby Sturla led the way for the Cobras with three shots, including one on goal. Boling contributed two shots of her own along with another two shots from freshman Mosley. Transfer Katie Moore made her first start in goal, recording eight saves.

The Cobras will be in action again next Wednesday (Sept. 15) when they host Lander University. Live video and stats can be found at cokercobras.com.
