Hartsville, SC- The Coker College Soccer Teams took on the St. Andrews Knights in Coker College’s 2005 Homecoming games on Saturday, October 1.

In the first match of the day the Cobra Women snapped a five game losing streak with a victory over the Knights 3-0. The win brings Coker to 5-6 on the year and 2-3 in the CVAC.

Coker got things going early as junior Megan Shaver/Athens, TN, scored nine minutes into the game with a header off a cross from freshman Kathryn Friedmann/Hendersonville, TN. Friedmann gave the Cobras a two goal lead just five minutes before the end of the half, when she scored with a assist from fellow freshman Emily Fifield/Atlanta, GA.

In the second half Friedmann and Shaver hooked up again, but this time Shaver assisted Friedmann, with a cross right in front of the net that Friedmann put past the keeper. Freshman keeper Jamie Swift/Marietta, GA, recorded the shutout for the Cobras, and had three saves on the day, while St. Andrew’s keepers Rita Brown and Garrison Burton each had six saves.

The next match for the Cobra women will be on Wednesday, October 5, when they travel to play the All-Stars of Converse College, while the men’s next game will be at home against Anderson College on October 8.
