Cobras Complete Sweep of Super Region 2 Duals

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker wrestling wrapped up a perfect showing at the Super Region 2 Duals defeating Emmanuel and Kutztown on Saturday (Jan. 30) at the DeLoach Center. 

Coker's first match of the day came in the form of a 33-15 victory over Emmanuel. Charlie Huff set the tone with a 10-3 decision win at 125, while Derrick Nelson (133) earned a victory by fall in 1:39.  Rashad Cunningham also earned a victory by fall (2:17) at 157. Derek Rothermel followed at 165 with an even quicker win by fall in only 49 seconds. Coker would win its fourth match by fall when Tyvon Leacock won by fall in 2:52.

The final bout of the tournament saw Coker defeat Kutztown 27-19. Huff picked up yet another win by decision at 125 by a score of 4-3. Nelson earned his second win by fall at 133, scoring the pin just 49 seconds into the match. Jordon Tague fought off a 10-5 deficit to earn the win by fall at the 5:53 mark of the third period at 149. Jamal Lackey earned Coker's third win by fall at 165 in 3:47. Austin Akins sealed the victory at heavyweight pinning his opponent in 2:26. 

The Cobras hit the mat again on Thursday (Feb. 4) when they host UNC Pembroke on Hartsville Chamber of Commerce Night. The action begins at 7:00 p.m.
