
THE COBRAS CRUISE TO THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
The Cobras beat the Warren Wilson Owls 23-8.
HARTSVILLE, SC: The Cobra faced the Warren Wilson Owls today, and they won by an impressive 23-8 scoreline. Coker was led by Kate Halcro, who scored six goals in today's match-up, five of which came in the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST PERIOD
In this first period of this match-up, the Cobras put on a clinic in the attacking half of the field. Coker outshot their opponents 19-6 with 13 of those shots finding the back of the net. Early on in the 1st period, however, the Cobras gave up an early lead as Warren Wilson scored in 40 seconds giving the visitors an early lead. Less than a minute later Kate Halcro scored her first goal of the contest evening the scores back up. A minute later, Kate Halcro found her second goal of the contest assisted by Mia MacMillan. Not but 14 seconds later Mia MacMillan scored her first goal of the contest. Warren Wilson got a goal back making the score 3-2 in favor of the Cobras. Kaiya Sabur found her first goal of the year moments later to give the Cobras a 2-score lead. Warren Wilson then got a free position shot shortly after and was converted by Callie Aerni. The Cobras then went on a 4-score run where Arguello, MacMillan, Richardson, and Mulligan all found the back of the net giving the Cobras a 5-goal lead. Warren Wilson didn't want to go away without a fight as they scored their final goal of the period in a woman-up opportunity courtesy of Sydney Webber. Coker Finished off the 1st period on another run of goals with Arguello, Richardson, and Mulligan all getting their 2nd goals of the day and Kate Halcro getting her 3rd on the day.
SECOND PERIOD
The second period started off the same as the first as the Owls scored their 5th goal through Sydney Webber. Kate Halcro received a Green Card from the officials shortly after the Owls goal but that didn't stop the Cobras from scoring again as Madeline Fontana scored her first goal of the season. Kate Halcro came back to the field scoring two more goals for the Cobras making the score 16-5. Leah Corely was given a free position shot in the 8th minute of the second period giving Corely her second goal of the season. Warren Wilson again fought back and scored the second goal for the second period cutting the lead down to 11. To finish off the 2nd period of this one Amanda Arguello scored her 3rd goal of the game as she was assisted by Mia MacMillan.
THIRD PERIOD
In the third period, the Cobras started to lay off the gas as they only scored four goals. Amanda Arguello finished off her goal-scoring early in the third period as she slipped the ball right past the Owl's goalie making the score 19-6. Shortly after Arguello's goal, Mia MacMillan found the back of the net for her 3rd goal of the contest and the third hat trick for the Cobras on the day. Madeline Fontana found the back of the net again as the Cobras scored their 21st goal of the contest. To end the third period the freshman Jessica Pintado scored her first goal of her Collegiate career.
FOURTH PERIOD
The fourth period of the game saw the Cobras being outscored for the first time of this game. 3 minutes into the 4th Warren Wilson took advantage of a man-up situation and scored their 7th goal of the contest. Shortly after the Owls scored the transfer Verena Turnwald opened her account for the Cobras scoring her first goal and the last goal of the game for the Cobras with an assist for Kaiya Sabur. The final score of this affair was 23-8 in favor of the Coker Cobras.
NOTABLES:
- Kate Halcro scored her first career hat trick. Not only was it her first hat trick but it was also her first double hat trick. Kalcro now leads the team in scoring with a total of 9 goals over 3 games for the Cobras.
- Mia MacMillan had a very impressive game today as she also scored her first hat trick of her career. MacMillan also had a double hattrick of assists on the day.
