Cobras Open Conference Play Hosting Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's lacrosse will open its South Atlantic Conference slate on Saturday (Mar. 4) when they host Lenoir-Rhyne. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras last played on Feb. 25 when they defeated North Greenville 14-11. Haley McCusker totaled six goals in the contest, aided by Faith Kent's four. Claudia Jenkins would record a hat trick and also notch her 100th career point in the win. Cassie Williams (2-1) made 11 saves between the pipes.

 McCusker, the reigning South Atlantic Conference Astroturf Player of the Week, leads the Cobras offensively, having notched 13 points on a team-high 12 goals and one assist. McCusker's 12 goals are tied for third in the conference, while her 13 total points are tied for seventh-best. Kent also has chipped in to the offense, scoring nine goals and dishing out five assists for a team-high 14 points. Kent is tied for fourth in the league in points and tied for eighth in goals.

The Cobras have several players on the other side of the ball that are ranked in the league as well. Marabeth Durden is sixth in the league in ground balls (13) and tied for sixth in draw controls (10). The senior is also fifth in the league in caused turnovers with six. Her defensive partner Kaitlyn Kimball is leading the league in caused turnovers with 15, and also has picked up 14 ground balls, the fifth-highest league total. Lindsay Ordemann is tied for second in the league in caused turnovers (7) and tied for seventh in ground balls with 12.

On the season, Lenoir-Rhyne is 2-1 with the upcoming matchup being their conference opener. Alyssa Sack leads the team on the offensive side of the ball with seven goals, tied for 12th-most in the SAC. She is also second in the conference in caused turnovers with eight.

Opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
