Coker Women's Golf Set to Participate in Lady Bearcat Invitational

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Coker women's golf team will participate in the Lady Bearcat Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 29-30).

Coker is looking to bring in momentum after a record-breaking performance at the Anderson Invitational.  The team shot a combined score of 321, which was good enough for a new team low round record.

The Cobras will rely on the leadership of Krista Thorpe and Taylor Demby for this week's tournament.  After two rounds of play in the Anderson Invitational, Thorpe shot a combined score of 164 while Demby shot a 162. Mallory Thompkins and Jessi McKenzie will also be participating for the Cobras in this week's event.  Thompkins is entering the competition with a stroke average of 83, while McKenzie is averaging a 94.  Also hoping to have a significant impact for the Cobras is junior Bobbi McKenzie, who is replacing the injured Sara Allen.

Coker will be just 1-of-10 teams participating in the tournament.  The field will include: Lander, West Georgia, Montevallo, Flagler, Columbus St, Savannah College of Art and Design, Armstrong Atlantic State, North Georgia, and USC Beaufort.
