Coker Women Earn Top 15 Finish at Pirate Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Coker women's golf team finished the 2012 Armstrong Pirate Women's Invitational in 13th place on Tuesday.  The Cobras carded a team score of 733. They were the second best Conference Carolinas school in the tournament; Mount Olive College finished 9th and Belmont Abbey College was 15th.

UNC Pembroke took home the title with Central Oklahoma placing second and Lander University and Armstrong Atlantic tying for third.

Mallory Thompkins (Georgetown, S.C.) led the Cobras with rounds of 88 and 83, while Sara Allen (Fort Mill, S.C.) fired an 83 and a 93 in the two-round event. Krista Thorpe (Bracebridge, Ontario) carded scores of 92 and 91 and Jessi McKenzie (McBee, S.C.) posted a 100 in each round.

The Cobra women will travel to Charlotte, N.C. for their next event on March 26-27, the Wingate Invitational.
