Coker Women Finish Tusculum Classic in Seventh

GREENEVILLE, Ten. – The Coker women's golf team finished in seventh place after carding a combined 678 (+102) over two rounds at the 2011 Tusculum Fall Classic on Tuesday afternoon. UNC Pembroke took home the championship with Lincoln Memorial coming in second and Tusculum in third.

Freshman Sara Allen (Fort Mill, S.C.) led the way for the Cobras with a top 20 finish. She fired a seven-over-par 79 in the final round. Sophomore Krista Thorpe (Bracebridge, Ontario) shot 87 (+15) in the second round, while freshman Jessi McKenzie (McBee, S.C.) shot an 89 (+17). Freshmen Caroline Dula (Salisbury, N.C.) and Mallory Thompkins (Georgetown, S.C.) carded scores of 88 (+16) and 86 (+16) respectively to round out the field for the Cobras.

The women will tee it up for their next tournament at the Myrtle Beach Invitational hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne starting on Oct. 3.
