VASS, N.C. – The Coker women’s golf team opened play at the 2011 Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday on the Maples Course at the Woodlake Resort. The Cobras are in seventh place after firing an opening round 379, while Belmont Abbey College (307) leads, Queens University of Charlotte (332) is in second and Pfeiffer University (333) is in third.

Krista Thorpe (Bracebridge, Ontario) was the Cobras low scorer with a first round 88, while Bobbi McKenzie (McBee, S.C.) shot a 90. Natalie Falco (Stoughton, Mass.) and Megan Tingen (Hartsville, S.C.) rounded out the field for the Cobras with scores of 99 and 102 respectively.

Coker will tee it up for the second of the three round conference tournament on Monday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.
